We are often a hopeful bunch. Hope is the fertile ground in which ideas about justice and social action can grow. Join the social justice committee as we explore the concept of hope. We will look at the concrete ways we as individuals, as a congregation, and as a community manifest our aspirations as action. And we will challenge ourselves to dream bigger.White Supremacy and White Privilege.
Remember to bring Hunger in Your Neighborhood food donations!
12:00PM Fellowship Hour - Join us for coffee, snacks and fellowship after the service.
12:00PM Soup Luncheon - The social justice committee will serve up a variety of delicious, hot soups, including vegetarian and vegan options, along with bread and dessert. The suggested donation is $5 per adult, $2.50 per child, with a $20 max per family. Funds raised will support social justice initiatives supported by our congregation.
12:30PM White Supremacy Teach In - Please join us with loving hearts and open minds for a White Supremacy Teach-In. To date, over 600 Unitarian Universalist churches have participated in the Teach-In which was created by BLUU, the Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism. This is a collaborative project with an intention to recognize the White Supremacist system that our culture operates within, and will give us guidance on how each one of us can help to dismantle it. Childcare is available.
12:30PM - Hunger in Our Neighborhood Event - During the White Supremacy Teach In, kids aged 5 and up will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 12:30PM to decorate cloth grocery bags for distribution to congregants (one bag per family). The cloth bags will serve as a reminder to bring your donations and will hopefully spur environmental ethics. Parents/guardians are welcome, but not required.

The Harry Potter class is in need of Religious Education teachers to join the ranks.
This is not a heavy commitment. We aim to have 6-8 teachers per class so that you are in the class only 1-2 Sundays a month.
Perks!
- This is a critically important way to serve our congregation
- You earn bragging rights
- You can play with magic in the Harry Potter class
- At the end of the RE year you get a catered dinner in your honor
- This is an opportunity to live and teach our UU values out loud
Please contact Sarah if you are willing to help out and serve! DRE@hvuuc.org
