MLK Weekend Events

MLK Weekend Events

There is so much happening this Martin Luther King Weekend! We hope you can make this more a "day on" than a "day off," where we honor the spirit of Rev. Dr. King's work by continuing it!

Holston Valley Unitarian Universalist Church will be officially participating in three events. Look for our HVUUC banner and walk with us! Feel free to join us for one, two or all three events, and if you’d like you can bring posters of support for peace and justice.

REMINDER: Trauma Informed Care Training

Sarah W. and Cindi H. will be offering a FREE Trauma Informed Care for Faith Communities next week on January 17th via zoom. This training will be particularly beneficial to those in leadership positions, but we encourage all interested in planting a seed for a more trauma informed culture to attend!

You can find more details at the event page here: https://hvuuc.org/events/2022/1/17/trauma-informed-care-for-faith-communities-training

Support Black Businesses

Support Black Businesses

One way to be an ally with our black brothers and sisters is to support black-owned businesses.

The Social Justice Committee is dedicating the first quarter of 2022 to Undoing Systemic White Supremacy. One way to be an ally to our black neighbors is to support their businesses. Here is a handy list to help you.

Stewardship Committee Volunteers Needed

Stewardship Committee Volunteers Needed

The Stewardship Committee needs volunteers to help plan and execute the Stewardship Campaign for the spring. This is an opportunity to facilitate a critical process for the church. The tasks primarily involve communications to promote congregant involvement, such as distributing pledge cards, follow up by phone/email, and contributing to announcement design.

The peak activity is January through March, with most time spent in preparation and follow up. For more information and to volunteer, please contact Charlie at stewardship@hvuuc.org
