There is so much happening this Martin Luther King Weekend! We hope you can make this more a "day on" than a "day off," where we honor the spirit of Rev. Dr. King's work by continuing it!
Holston Valley Unitarian Universalist Church will be officially participating in three events. Look for our HVUUC banner and walk with us! Feel free to join us for one, two or all three events, and if you’d like you can bring posters of support for peace and justice.
Saturday, January 15 at 2:00pm we’ll meet at the Abingdon Virginia Farmer’s Market for a March and Program
Monday, January 17 at 11:30am we’ll meet at the corner of Center & East Sevier Street for a Parade, or meet at the church no later than 10:45am if you want to carpool
Monday, January 17 we’ll meet at the Carver Recreation Center for the Johnson City Walk. A program at Carver will begin at 12:45, and walk will begin at 1:30pm.
We are timing it so that we can make both Kingsport and Johnson City, but if you only can make one that’s ok.
Email us at showup@hvuuc.org to let us know if you're coming to any of these three events.
There's also a large number of additional events and educational opportunities to attend. Please see the attached flyers for additional information.
Also, The King Center has identified that in 2022 what Dr. King would be doing is putting pressure on the senate to bypass the filibuster and pass the Voting Rights Act. We can all go to www.deliverforvotingrights.com to do the work that his legacy is calling us to do.
