Our annual interactive and intergenerational Water Communion service where we celebrate our interconnectivity is this Sunday. Many people bring water from their travels throughout the year, or from another water source that holds meaning for them.

Church Picnic Ukulele Sing Along

The NUTs group will be hosting a sing-along at the church picnic on Saturday, August 22nd between 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 in the sanctuary. Everyone is encouraged to bring their ukulele and their voice and sing along.

Fifth Sunday August 30th

Kitchen of Hope in Kingsport is this month’s Fifth Sunday offering recipient. The Kitchen of Hope, where teams from various local organizations prepare and serve meals to anyone who needs them, has been operating since 1998. Everyone is welcome. On average, the kitchen serves 153 meals per day.

If you would like to contribute, please place your gift in the envelope included in the bulletin on Sunday morning August 30th. If you cannot attend that Sunday but would like to participate, you can give electronically through our website at https://hvuuc.org/donate. Designate in the instructions that your contribution is for the “Fifth Sunday” collection. This option will be available August 23rd through September 6th.

Beginning February 2, 2020, Holston Valley Unitarian Universalist Church will offer an 8-week Our Whole Lives (OWL) program during the regular religious education class time (Sundays 9:30-10:45AM) for children in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. The secular OWL sexuality education curriculum has been reported by NPR as the best curriculum of its kind.

Snacks Needed for Coffee Hour Sunday

This Sunday, November 3 the ETSU Chorale will be performing during our service. If you’ve heard them before, you know you don’t want to miss this! A few things for Sunday:

  1. We need extra snacks for coffee hour! The chorale brings 20-30 hungry college kids to us and we like to feed them well after the service. If you can bring a finger food with you, please do!

  2. Parking will be tight. Please carpool if possible and/or park in the lower lot.

  3. Bring a friend, tell a friend! They will happy you did!
