Religious liberalism involves a willingness to affirm faith without certainty. This is not the same thing as faith without conviction. Religious liberals tend to hold faith claims with a certain tentativeness, which reflects a commitment to open-ended inquiry and the realization that truth is not given once and for all time.

12:00PM Potluck - Bring a dish to share and join us for our monthly 2nd Sunday potluck lunch,

1:00PM Ministerial Internship Q&A - Please join us after the potluck for an informal Question & Answer session concerning the possibility of being a teaching church and hosting an intern next year. The candidate, Tiffany Sapp, has prepared a short video to introduce herself. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions.

Collections Currently Being Taken at Church

Several church groups are currently asking for the following items.  Please help as you can! 

Toiletries – Social Action collecting for Safe Passage; soap, shampoo and conditioner, lotion, feminine hygiene products, disposable razors, nail polish, emery boards, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste (adult and children), women's socks and underwear (any size), Kleenex, toilet paper, paper towels.  Please bring Sunday, December 10th.

Underwear – The Wholehearted Covenant Group will be accepting donations through the month of December in the Fellowship Hall. Donations for Kids and Adult underwear up to size 16/XL will be accepted, as well as monetary donations.  These will be distributed to hurricane victims and local agencies.  Please bring any Sunday in December.

Cookie Tins/Homemade Cookies -  The 2nd and 3rd grade RE Class is bringing tins of homemade cookies to all the families that are assisted by the Jonesborough Food Bank. Please bring tins on Sunday, December 10 and leave them in the kitchen.  You may also bring homemade cookies on Sunday, December 17. 

Homemade Cookies – Please bring your favorite cookies for the Christmas Eve morning service.  Email Peggy at membership@hvuuc.org to let her know you’ll be bringing cookies.

Healthy Snack Foods - Hunger in Our Neighborhood December food collection.  Donations will be shared between the Jonesborough Food Bank, Hunger First in Kingsport and our own church food pantry.
