Reflections on Gratitude and Grief

Local United Religions Initiative hosts

Reflections on Grief & Gratitude “Dinner”

(Tri-Cities, TN) Join us on December 5th at 3pm to reflect not just on Gratitude, but also how Gratitude interweaves with Grief at a very special gathering across all faith communities. United Religions Initiative - Northeast Tennessee Cooperation Circle has traditionally hosted an in-person community Gratitude Dinner. This will be the second year in a row that URI NE-TN will be holding our “Gratitude Dinner” on Zoom due to concerns around Covid-19 transmission.

In our religious diversity, there are some basic human emotions that we all hold in common. We all experience Grief. We all practice Gratitude. Come participate in this interactive sharing, supported by prayers of Gratitude from numerous local faith leaders, and concluding with an opportunity to express both Gratitude and Grief honoring the lives of some significant peacemakers in our community.

The following faiths will be bringing prayer into our circle of Thanksgiving, introduced by Rev. Tiffany Sapp of Holston Valley Unitarian Universalists and Pat Griggs, Vice President of United Religions Initiative of Northeast Tennessee Cooperation Circle:

  1. Rev. Vincent Dial of Bethel Christian Church

  2. President Shahram Malik of Johnson City Islamic Center

  3. Marina Munjal, Buddhist Practitioner

  4. Dr. Jay Mehta, Hindu Practitioner

  5. President Jeff Bauserman, Kingsport Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
