You are invited to United Religions Initiate (URI) Celebration of the International Day of Peace picnic and program on Saturday, September 21st at the Islamic Center of Northeast Tennessee. The theme for Peace Day 2019 is "Climate Action for Peace", so URI is co-sponsoring this event with GINI (Green Interfaith Network Inc.) whose focus is not only on interfaith work, but also on climate protection. Please bring your family and friends.
We'll start the evening at 5PM in the Islamic Center's huge outdoor pavilion with a pot-luck picnic -- please bring a meatless dish to share.
At about 7:30PM, guests may observe the sundown prayers in the Mosque. Please note, respectful attire inside the Mosque: no shorts for men or women or skirts above the knee; women should cover head and shoulders.
Following prayers, a program will ensue with reflections on the 2019 Peace Day theme from the perspective of Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Hindu and Unitarian Universalist faith traditions.
