Executive Session Board Report

On 08/19/2025, the Board appointed a special task force to review policy around those who are survivors of domestic abuse. At a special Board meeting on 01/06/2026, the Safe Here Task Force reported back to the board with; a letter, a statement of conscience, a proposed Abuse Response Policy, appendices, and a proposed charge if the Board determined to create the suggested Survivor Care Collaborative. The Board reviewed the documents over the next two months, consulting with the UUA and an attorney. In an Executive Session at the Board’s meeting on 03/17/2026, the Board voted unanimously to move forward in the following ways to address concerns of survivors and those who are close to survivors, security, and covenantal living:

Reflections on Gratitude and Grief

Reflections on Gratitude and Grief

Join us on December 5th at 3pm to reflect not just on Gratitude, but also how Gratitude interweaves with Grief at a very special gathering across all faith communities. United Religions Initiative - Northeast Tennessee Cooperation Circle has traditionally hosted an in-person community Gratitude Dinner. This will be the second year in a row that URI NE-TN will be holding our “Gratitude Dinner” on Zoom due to concerns around Covid-19 transmission.

Don’t forget to register for RE Kits in December!

Our survey results indicate that families will be willing to come pick up RE kits from the church. We need YOU to register for them, and we will make them and leave them in a bin outside on the side porch of the church.

Please follow this link and register by NOVEMBER 28th so that we have time to prep accordingly. Religious Education will contact you via email when the kits are ready to be picked up.

You can find the Members Area at the bottom of the site. Here you’ll discover an assortment of useful links including tax exempt certificate, reimbursement forms, and more. This is a password protected feature of our website. For log in information contact the office at office@hvuuc.org.

An up-to-date version of our church directory is also located in the members area of our website. Please take a moment to download the most recent version and be sure your information is correct. If a change is needed, email the office at office@hvuuc.org with the relevant details.

RSVP - Religious Education Fellowship

Religious Education is so excited to invite you to add another event to your calendar!

Rev Tiffany and RE will be hosting an outdoor art activity on November 20th from 12:30-3:30 at Eastman Recreation Center Shelter #12.. We are looking forward to having a socially distanced outdoor event that is safe for our unvaccinated children.


We will be making holiday ornaments, enjoying fellowship, and of course…SNACKS. Bring your families and join us!

News and Events

To submit an event or news item to our website click “News and Events Submission” under the “News and Events” menu heading at the top of the site. Or go to hvuuc.org/submissions

Submit an event for occasions with a physical date and time that you would like to promote publicly such as a small gathering. Submit a news item for general messages such as the announcement of an upcoming covenant group.

Reservations

If you would like to reserve a room in the church for an event first check the calendar here to be sure there is not a scheduling conflict, then email the office administrator at office@hvuuc.org with the details of your reservation.
