The Social Justice Committee is reminding everyone that it's the time of year for collecting Giving Tree items. Our tree will be in need of items for children, women, and men.
Some of the most important items we need are:
handwarmers
individually-wrapped, non-perishable snacks
gloves
scarves
hats
undies
socks
The Giving Tree donation bins will be in the Fred Ball room and in the foyer/entrance of the sanctuary. You may leave items as they are, packaged or not. We will collect items all through the holiday season to keep the tree replenished. Additionally, monetary donations are welcomed, and we will do the shopping for you!
Coat Drive
The SJC is also partnering with Unity Housing to collect winter coats for our neighbors experiencing homelessness for their Homeless Persons Memorial Day event on Sun., Dec. 13th in Founders Park. If you have any gently used adult winter coats to donate for this event, you can place those items in the Giving Tree donation bins. Those coats will need to be received by Sun., Dec. 5th.
You are invited to a Giving Tree Party!
Volunteers are needed to stay after service on Sun., Nov. 15th at 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall to bag items in preparation for decorating the Giving Tree at the Appalachian Liberation Library (419 W Market St., Johnson City) on Sat. Nov. 28th at 12 p.m.
