We’re all “stuck” at home, and maybe have some extra free time. Meanwhile, there is a treasure trove of fun games sitting unused at the REZ.
Enter: the HVUUC Board (and Card) Game Delivery and Concierge Service
a.k.a. HVUUCBACGDACS (say it with me…)
If you have even the vaguest interest in games, now is the perfect time to try something new! We have traditional board games, card games, kid’s games, and modern strategy games of many types to choose from. Or to have chosen for you based on your preferences. Even games for one person to play alone!
We’re also accepting game donations that can be distributed to others. Note that these are DONATIONS and they may never come back!
Note that deliveries will be consolidated into one whirlwind trip around the Tri-Cities, so:
Don’t worry about adding work. The more people that sign up, the more efficient the delivery day will be. :-)
Don’t delay!
*a note on sanitization
The games are coming from the REZ, which has been shut down for several weeks already, and the home of Kirk R., who has “sheltered at home” for several weeks also (leaving only to go get the games from the REZ). They have not been officially sanitized but according to the National Institutes of Health COVID-19 can only live on cardboard for one day and plastic for 2–3 days. For extra precaution, feel free to wait a day or more before bringing any delivery into your house.
How it works
1) Select your game(s) and/or fill out the preference form
If you know what you want, just provide a short list of titles from the game library inventory, in order of preference. Note that every game has a link to find out more about it on a website called Board Game Geek. There are overview videos, reviews, rules questions, and more.
If you’re curious but don’t know where to start, fill out the Concierge Service section of the form below.
Either way, from the information you provide I’ll select a game or two or three for you.
2. Set your contact information
Include your address and I’ll drop off the game(s) at your front door or other specified location.
For extra precaution, feel free to wait a day before bringing it into your house. (Supposedly COVID-19 can live up to a day on cardboard.)
3. Submit the form
I may follow up with questions, or I may just pick a game or two for you and drop them off.
4. (optional) Get your donations ready
If you have games that you’re not using and want to donate to the library please check them for completeness and cleanliness.
You can put out your donations for pickup at your selected drop-off location just prior to your delivery.
5. Receive
I’ll send you an email message when I’m about to start delivery. That will be the time to put out any donations if you have them.
