Dear members and friends,
At the Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting on 3/18/2020, we discussed how the church will move forward during this difficult time. In person church services are suspended through the end of May. Please join us at our new YouTube channel for Virtual Church.
Disease pattern and severity will continue to be monitored and we will open again as soon, and safe, as possible.
The BoT voted to close the church building and the Religious Education building through May. For your safety, and for community health, please hold committee meetings, covenant groups, book groups, etc. either in homes or online. The church will be undergoing deep cleaning during this time.
The church now has a ZOOM subscription. ZOOM is an online meeting platform. We can use this for committee/small group meetings. More information and tutorials for use of this technology are forthcoming.
Look for an email/FaceBook post regarding programming this Sunday 3/22
During this difficult time, if you have any need, like picking up food from the grocery store or church food pantry/picking up a prescription/computer software help/etc, please contact the Caring Team at caring@hvuuc.org or call 423-477-7661 and leave a message.
If you are a friend or member of the church who is willing to be added to a Helper List, also please contact caring@hvuuc.org or call 423-477-7661 and leave a message.
The Caring Team will try to match those who need help with those on the Helper List. The goods should be paid ahead of the pickup. Deliveries will be left where the recipient can easily get to them. In order to respect the social distancing efforts recommended by the CDC, in-person contacts should be limited.
Please continue your support for the church by completing your intended pledge for this fiscal year. We still have the mortgage, electric, internet/phone bills to pay. To honor our commitments all paid staff will continue to be paid during this time.
The best way to donate at this time is by check. Electronic donations are also possible, but they take a small percentage of each transaction, so the church will not receive your entire donation.
We know that in-person meetings are discouraged. But we still want you to stay connected to each other! If you’re thinking about someone, contact them. A simple email, a short phone call, or a witty text can turn a frown upside down. :)
These guidelines are being put in place to help us stay safe and healthy, and connected to this beloved community. Please be patient with church leadership and each other as we navigate this storm.
We can continue to build community together, and apart.
In fact, we must.
