Here are some of the HVUUC firsts that happened during 2020 when the congregation came together even when we couldn’t be together.
March 22: First virtual church service
April
First virtual choir piece (Meditation on Breathing) airs and is later picked up by the UUSJ for their virtual service
On Easter Sunday the Easter Bunny traveled more than 156 miles, through 5 counties in 2 states to deliver treats to 50+ HVUUC youth
May
First virtual coffee hour
First virtual HVUUC annual meeting—we easily met quorum!
June
First new member during the pandemic—Bradley!
First virtual board retreat and Trauma-informed Ministry workshop
First RE kit delivery to more than 70 youth
August
First virtual social justice action: statement in support of black lives passed unanimously!
First fully virtual covenant group
September: First socially distanced outdoor church picnic
October: First virtual congregational workshop: Beyond Categorical Thinking—well attended according to our UUA consultant!
November: First virtual service auction — $7,322 raised
December
First virtual Green Arts Festival — $350 donated by artists to church for green initiatives
