On Sunday, during the Annual Meeting, I uttered some poorly-chosen words in an attempt to allay fears. I heard the musical community expressing concerns about next year's musical program because of Michael's departure. I rose to speak, mostly to the musical folks, and I reminded them that we had been here before and that we would not implode.
I cannot recall my exact words, but Michael was offended, believing that I had disparaged his work. That was not my intention and I apologized twice to him. I apologize again right now.
I do recall saying that for two of the three years I have been at this church, we have had no professional musical leadership. That is not true. In the moment, I forgot about Margi Peterson. In fact we have had professional musical leadership for the last two years.
