The Tennessee Unitarian Universalist Community Action Network (TUUCAN) invites all Tennessee UUs to Nashville for the Fall Flock on Saturday, October 18th, at First UU Church of Nashville (FUUN) from 9 am to 4 pm (Central Time)
We will share food, fellowship, and support each other during these difficult times in our cities, state, and country. We will learn how UU State Action Networks across the United States turn UU values into positive action. We will nurture deeper relationships, strengthen our social justice ecosystem, and create plans for a world with love at the center.
We hope to represent - in person or via Zoom - each of our 14 UU communities in Tennessee and beyond. Register at https://bit.ly/tuucan25 or email sjchair@hvuuc.org for questions or assistance.
If attending via zoom, keep in mind that the event will be 10:00-5:00 Eastern Standard Time

In this service, Covenant Groups will be defined and demonstrated by our trained Facilitators. Selected former Covenant Group members will also offer a brief testimonial about the benefits of being in a Covenant Group. Congregation will have an opportunity to participate in a mini session lead by Facilitators in order to experience how a Covenant Group works. Following the service, congregants will have the opportunity to enroll in several upcoming Groups.
Believe it or not. It's time to think about the Service Auction on November 8th.
If you’re new to HVUUC, our Service Auction is a much anticipated event every fall. Yes, it’s a fundraiser but really it’s more of a FUN raiser, where you and other congregants get together to offer a service, event, or item.
There’s no limit to the activities or the items you can “auction” off. You can offer handyman services, teach a paint party, host a dinner, auction off baked goods, original art, and more! Wherever your passion and talents lie, there’s room for it at the service auction.
Want to provide a meal but don't have the room? Use the churches kitchen for your event! You can check the church calendar on our website and reserve time and space by emailing office@hvuuc.org.
We would encourage you to donate items that can be redeemed any time during the next year.
Donate your services, event, or items using the Auctria website using the link below. Email auction@hvuuc.org with any questions.
We've had the sermon series, we've had the workshops, we've had a bunch of Newsletter articles, and now it's time for you to share your feedback with your delegates about how you want them to represent you at General Assembly regarding the Article 2 revision vote.
Please use the google form below to give feedback and indicate your voting preferences to the people who will be representing you at General Assembly this year.
To see the full Article 2 Study Commission Report click here: https://www.uua.org/files/2023-02/article-II-study-report-2021-23.pdf
If you missed the workshops, we will soon be publishing a "Q & A" developed from the questions people posed at the workshops, so be watching for that soon.

How do we address uncertainty and change together? Can we make it fun? What do the lessons and rules of Improv groups and Jam Sessions have to offer us?
Risk Assessment Team has determined that we are in Risk Level Low.
Some work will be taking place, beginning next week, in which two people will be volunteering their time for two full days. As a thank you, the church would like to provide them with lunch.
The dates are tentative because the weather is a factor, so this would be a task that may need to be filled on short notice. At the moment, the dates are during the week.
If you're interested in providing a light lunch, please email Doug at facilities@hvuuc.org
You can also find a few printed copies of the newsletter on the visitors table in the sanctuary.

Several Holston Valley UU members and friends share what personally brings them to atheism and why they are proud to claim that title for themselves.

Girl Scout seniors Alexis, Moth, and Olivia are working on their gold award project, collecting period products for a local high school. They aim to improve access to period products for high schoolers and to eliminate period poverty.
They will have a well-marked bin set up near the front door starting the 5th of March specifically for collecting period products. This collection will be going on from March 5th to March 19th.
Thank you for supporting troop 543’s efforts and for supporting teens in need of period products.
From Feb 20th to Feb 27th Rev. Tiffany will be on Study Leave and unavailable. Our physical office will be closed and "office@" emails may be slower than normal to respond during this time as well.

Humans are not the only mammals that depend on the wisdom of community elders for survival. Elephants and Orcas both have matriarchal communities that depend on the wisdom of Grandmotherly figures. Today we explore the "grandmother hypothesis" and see what it might say about how we care for each other.
Risk Assessment Team has determined that we are in Risk Level Medium. Masks are required for services.
If your children are in Girl Scouts and selling cookies, please let us know, in order to organize each troop getting a table during Coffee Hour. A sign up sheet will be available Sunday, and you can email me directly if that is more convenient. The only info needed is contact email, troop, and number of kids.
