Nursery Pick-Up Reminder
A friendly reminder that our wonderful nursery caregivers provide care for our littlest members each Sunday from 9:15 AM–12:15 PM.
As we continue nurturing an intergenerational church community, we invite families to pick up their children promptly following the worship service so they can join the congregation for coffee hour, potlucks, and other opportunities to connect across generations.
If you anticipate needing childcare beyond 12:15 PM on a particular Sunday, please reach out to our Director of Religious Exploration, Jess Ox, at hvuucdre@gmail.com in advance so we can explore available options together.
Thank you for helping us create a caring and connected community for all ages!
Join us for church on July 12, 2026.

HVUUC member, Wanda E., explores ideas of worth and dignity as we age. Retirement doesn't mean uselessness. It enables us to find new ways to offer our many life's experiences and dispel the negative nomenclature of aging.
MUSIC LOVERS: James Shawcross and Sierra Stratton-Ramsay will be preforming a flute sonata for our special music this Sunday.
I'm inviting anyone who is interested to join the Wonder Worship Task Force!
Join the Wonder Worship Taskforce!
This will be a short-term, collaborative team focused on:
🌟 Exploring the overall structure of Wonder Worship
🌟 Brainstorming ideas and possibilities
🌟 Helping think through how everything comes together in practice
🌟 Reflecting on our first few weeks after launch and recommending any helpful revisions

Did you know that we have people in our community who have fragrance sensitivities that make it very difficult for them to be in spaces where there are perfumes and other scents?
For that reason we have designated the side of the sanctuary closest to the Fred Ball Room as a "Scent-Free Zone" If you wear perfumes or scented lotions please sit on the other side of the sanctuary. There are signs marking the "Scent-Free Zone."
Sometimes our paid childcare staff have to cancel on us last minute due to life or sickness, and we're looking for a few volunteers to be on a "backup" list. If we have a cancellation we will call down the list to see who is available. Because these things happen last minute, we'd love a long list so we have a variety of people to contact.
If you can help us in this way, please email childcare@hvuuc.org for a background check and to get on the list.
Facilities and Religious Education are making some changes in the REZ building!
Adult RE 2 will be meeting in the bottom level of the REZ this fall. As a result we need to get rid of the furniture in the first room on the right. If you want it, come and get it! If you would like to pick it up and donate it, come and get it!
Doug and Sarah need it removed ASAP, so if you’re interested in the furniture, please make arrangements.
Any questions, contact facilities@hvuuc.org or dre@hvuuc.org
Guerry McConnell is waiting for a hip repair and dealing with pain. We have all enjoyed her singing many times, and now she needs some support. Days available, address, diet and other information @ mealtrain.com/4m8298. Or contact Joy Boyd at joy@hvuuc.org
Use the link above to connect with the Meal Train for Bryan. Once there, click on "Calendar" and next you will want to click on the highlighted yellow area entitled "Review all Instructions" to read delivery instructions and dietary requirements. Thank you very much.

We are looking for a few good women to host our monthly Women's Nights gathering.
So what does hosting involve? Maybe cleaning up a bit, putting out some set ups/drinks and then our great group of women will bring the party to you.
We need hosts for the rest of this year (except October) starting July 1. If you haven't experienced Women's night and you identify as female, come join us, first Friday night of each month.
Email womensgroup@hvuuc.org for more info.
There are many helpful resources found on our website hvuuc.org.

This congregation has really showed up and showed off with volunteering to be RE teachers this year! I have been overwhelmed with gratitude. We only need 6-8 more people to fully staff all classes and give us a substitute or two.
The RE Collaborative likes to have 8 teachers for each class so that the rotation is full enough to provide plenty of Sundays every month for teachers to meet their own spiritual needs by attending Adult RE.
We will be hosting a teacher training after the service on August 14th, and its going to be a fun time. Please reach out to me at DRE@hvuuc.org if you would like to help guide the future leaders of Unitarian Universalists!
Let's Chat Covenant Group is a discussion group with no specific topic but is wide ranging discussion group where we explore how we, as people in this ever confusing world choose to be in harmony with other people for a time together.
We meet 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month, from 6:30 to 8:30. We are now meeting in the Susan B Anthony room in the REZ (Religious Education Zone) which is the building to the left of the main church building. Come check us out.
If interested please contact Greg Kramer before you come. letschat@hvuuc.org
All who identify as women are invited to the monthly Women's BrUUnch Bunch on Monday, June 13th. This group meets every month on the second Monday, beginning at 10:00am, in the Fred Ball Room.
This event gives HVUUC women an opportunity to socialize in an informal setting. The host for June is Michele Markstrom-Frisch. We ask that each person bring a brunch item to share. Beverages will be provided.
Please email Michele Markstrom-Frisch at brunch@hvuuc.org for more information or to let her know that you will be attending.

As General Assembly approaches, I am reflecting on how a key part of our Unitarian Universalist identity is that we are a democratic religious movement. General Assembly is the annual meeting where delegates from all over the nation gather to vote on the direction our movement will take, elect representatives to the UUA's Board, and also get a chance to learn from amazing speakers, workshops and worship services.
In Unitarian Universalism, the goal is for everyone to have a voice and a vote. This year, we have three delegates serving as the voice and vote of Holston Valley Unitarian Universalist Church.
Our delegates are going to General Assembly to REPRESENT YOU, which means that listening to our community is an essential part of how they do that representing.
